Science on fracking is complicated and takes time

Check out a thoughtful Philadelphia Daily News editorial on the widely varying media coverage of some recent Duke University research related to hydraulic fracturing – fracking – in drilling for oil and natural gas. The editorial’s point is that science takes time and advocates are too quick to seize on research to support their beliefs and economic interests. As you read the editorial’s summary of headlines from various media, keep in mind the headline this blog put on a Bloomberg News account of the research:  ‘Duke research has implications for fracking.’
